The Pixel Vest is a garment built from a central granny square, with added rounds on the sides to shape the armholes and neckline. It’s simple to construct and you can make it in wool, acrylic, merino, alpaca, or any other warm fiber for colder weather, or choose cotton, bamboo, or linen for a lighter summer version—more like a crochet top.
The instructions are written for size S/M, but you’ll find guidance to make it larger or smaller depending on how many rounds you add to the central granny.
Try different color combos, play with textures, or even change the length—just add as many rounds as you like!

This pattern comes in a downloadable PDF with 14 pages including step-by-step photos, diagrams, written instructions, and a link to a video tutorial where I teach you how to crochet the 1x1 ribbing stitch used for the vest edges.

Worsted weight yarn (10 WPI). The amount will depend on your chosen size and color combo.

This design is written for size S/M, but it’s very easy to adjust to other sizes.

I’ll show you how to transform a basic granny square into a highly stylish garment. By simply combining colors, you can create a truly eye-catching vest or top. This guide includes a video tutorial to learn how to knit the 1x1 rib stitch.

Basic crochet skills are required: magic ring, chain stitches, slip stitch, double crochet, front post and back post double crochet (you’ll find a video tutorial for these in the PDF).

To make this design, it’s important that you know how to read crochet charts/diagrams and how to work in the round for the central granny.

I don’t use abbreviations in my patterns, so they are very easy to follow — you won’t find any confusing acronyms.
